Wheeler Yuta believes Marina Shafir is probably one of the hardest workers in AEW.

Since the beginning of The Death Riders in the wake of turning on Bryan Danielson last year, Marina Shafir has stepped up as the groups enforcer while remaining the DEFY Women’s Champion away from AEW. Shafir recently competed in the first ever AEW Women’s Blood and Guts match, winning the match for her team by choking out Mina Shirakawa until Toni Storm surrendered the match. Now, a Death Riders member has spoken about Shafir’s work ethic.

While speaking to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp in a new interview, Wheeler Yuta was asked about Marina Shafir’s development within the promotion, calling her one of the hardest workers in AEW.

“Watching Marina’s growth has been like incredible. She is probably one of, if not the hardest worker, I would say in AEW. She’s still out busting her butt on the independents every time. She’s the one texting the Death Riders group chat like, ‘Hey, when are we going to the building? When are we going to go get some work in?’ She’s always there. She’s shadow boxing, jumping rope. She’s rolling around in the ring, picking people’s brains at ringsides. She’s always incredibly determined to get better. I’m so happy that people can finally see it. She’s been putting in this work for so long that to see it really come to fruition has been awesome. Like watching her just absolutely shine in the women’s Blood & Guts match was incredible. She’s obviously been such a commanding presence the whole time in the death riders, but now that she’s wrestling more and getting those opportunities too, it’s been great. We had such a fun time in that tornado tag match against Statlander and Darby and just seeing her now just go off on her own and blossom has been great.”

Elsewhere in the same interview with Fightful, Wheeler would talk about his preparation for his appearance in this year’s Blood and Guts match. You can read more about that here.
