Wardlow: Hey James Gunn, If You Need A Bane And Dave Bautista Is Busy, I’m Your Guy

AEW’s Wardlow shoots his shot and wants to be part of James Gunn’s new cinematic universe for DC.

With just weeks remaining until the release of James Gunn’s Superman film, the tone will soon be established for his vision of the cinematic future of the legendary DC superheroes and supervillains. Of course, Gunn is no stranger to collaborating with professional wrestlers. He has partnered with John Cena on the Peacemaker series and has worked with Batista on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Wardlow wants to be the next wrestler in DC films and took to X to tag Gunn directly, stating that if he’s looking for someone to portray the role of the Batman villain Bane, and if Dave Bautista is busy, he wants to be the one.

Wardlow or Batista would not be the first professional wrestler to portray Bane. Jeep Swenson, known as the Ultimate Solution when he headlined WCW Uncensored 1996 as one of the many opponents for Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage, portrayed Bane in the critically panned 1997 film Batman & Robin.

Wardlow has been away from AEW TV since March of 2024. He will be one of the Gladiators on the revived American Gladiators series, hosted by WWE Superstar The Miz. Learn more here.
