Vince McMahon Says Hulk Hogan Passing Was A ‘Blow To His Heart’

Hulk Hogan passed away on Thursday, July 24 after suffering a heart attack. Hogan had been dealing with health issues following a four-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
Hogan was one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, transcending the sport in the 80s and 90s with Hulkamania and the NWO. Vince McMahon pushed Hogan to the forefront of wrestling, building the WWE around him.
Speaking on “The Real Hulk Hogan” documentary, McMahon was asked about his relationship with Hogan.
“He was part of my life, a big part of my life. We were brothers to a certain extent. Every now and then we would get into a verbal scrap or something, but it always turned out for the best. We were so close and enjoyed each other’s company so much,” he said.
Asked how he felt when he learned that Hogan passed away, McMahon said, “Shock. You just don’t think about someone, a family member or someone that close to you, you don’t think about them passing away. Terry had kicked out, so to speak, of so many surgeries. He had to get like 20 surgeries on his back, plus others on his knees and hip or something. He overcame all that. It was a tremendous shot. It was a blow to my heart.”
To close the documentary, McMahon said, “One thing he said in character, which is ‘Hulkamania will live forever.’ Indeed, it is.”
Before the news of Hogan’s passing was made public, McMahon was involved in a car accident. Fans can learn more here.
McMahon is still part of an active lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant who accuses McMahon of sexual assault and sex trafficking.
