Triple H On WWE SummerSlam Being Two Nights: The Business Is There, So Let’s Take It

Triple H comments on this year’s SummerSlam.
For the first time ever, SummerSlam will take place over two nights, as the event will be held at Metlife Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.
This decision, which has received a mixed response from fans, comes just five years after WWE started hosting two-night WrestleMania events.
Speaking with BT and Sal of WFAN for a new interview, Triple H defended the idea, arguing that people plan their entire year around these big weekends.
“Look, it has been successful for us on the WrestleMania side for sure. The two night WrestleMania is a destination weekend for people that can come in, you know, I think people plan their year and vacation around it. A lot of folks do, they come in. Whether they’re coming in on the Thursday, they’re going to [WWE] World, they’re seeing all the memorabilia, getting autographs, coming to SmackDown on Friday night, the Saturday + Sunday events, NXT in the afternoon sometimes on the Saturday, all the way through to the Monday night. This time, we’ll be at Barclay’s Center. It creates a destination event. If you are a WWE fan, if you’re a sports entertainment fan, it’s the ultimate. You come in, you’re there for that whole weekend and everything you do and everything you see — When we say we come in and we take over, that New York/New Jersey area will just be WWE central. If you’re a fan, there’s nothing like it. It’s going to Disney for pro wrestling. It’s worked for us at WrestleMania, it’ll work for us at SummerSlam. It’s going incredibly well. The business is there, so let’s take it.”
