Trick Williams comments on some fans suggesting he would not be able to succeed without Carmelo Hayes.

Williams and the current WWE United States Champion have a lengthy history in NXT, first being allies and a pairing that got over with fans, to being opponents that faced off after a heated feud. Now, Williams has addressed fans who tie he and Hayes’ careers together.

While speaking to the Battleground podcast in a new interview, Trick Williams discussed fans believing he needed a pairing with Hayes to be successful.

“You know, like I see a lot of the comments online, just inevitably, like when you hop on your timeline, people are going to talk. You know what I mean? If you care about the craft, you know, you might look. You know what I mean? I see negative comments all the time. I see positive comments all the time. But, regardless, the sun is going to rise the next day and I got to get back to work. So, I mean, I see it all, but regardless, I had goals. I had dreams. I had a vision before I was teamed up with Melo, after I was with Melo to achieve. So it doesn’t really matter what anybody says. I ain’t got there yet. So I’m going to keep grinding.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Trick spoke about recent praise from Drew McIntyre. You can read more about that here.
