Toni Storm discusses her run in NXT UK.
During her time with WWE, Storm would spend much of her time in the NXT UK brand of the promotion, a brand of which she would become the NXT UK Women’s Champion of in 2019, defeating Rhea Ripley to win the gold. It was not until the beginning of 2020 that Storm would finish up with the brand before moving to the US to be a part of the main NXT brand.
While speaking on the Marking Out podcast, Toni Storm was asked about her time with NXT UK, noting that it was ‘a very valuable learning experience’ getting to learn from ‘all the greats’
“I lived there for a while, my family are British, I was on the British wrestling scene for a long time, a long long time, so I did the NXT, that’s how I got to go in to WWE. It was a very valuable learning experience, I got to learn from all the greats, I got to learn from Johnny Saint, Johnny Moss, James Mason, all the local British (talent), Robbie Brookside. So it was just a great group. It was lovely, and then you now, obviously comes a time I move to America and here we are, I’m American now.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Toni spoke of ‘creative freedom’ in WWE. You can read more about that here.
