Tommy Dreamer tells a brief story about his mother making him all of his wrestling gear.
In the early to mid 1990s, Tommy Dreamer was still trying to find his identity as a pro wrestler, and tried gear that featured long pants with suspenders connected – a far cry from wrestling in ECW merchandise that fans would be used to later in his career.
While speaking on The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, Dreamer would noted that his mom made all his gear, so people shouldn’t make fun of the suspenders.
“I have a lot of stuff. I don’t throw away anything. I have all my gear. My mom made all my gear, so don’t make fun of the suspenders, and she’s now gone, but she would always say- it’s how she would say, like, I was, you know, with her all the time, and the robes, she made all them. She made a lot of gear for a lot of the boys as well, and then she was like, ‘all you wrestlers are pains in the asses. I don’t want to do it anymore.'”
Last month, Ash By Elegance noted that Dreamer saved her career. You can read more about that here.
