Todd Grisham: Kevin Dunn Told Me That My Voice Was Too High-Pitched For Commentary, Suggested That I Should Start Smoking Cigarettes

Todd Grisham recalls getting some “advice” from Kevin Dunn.

Before leaving the company in 2023, Kevin Dunn was with WWE for nearly 40 years, serving in various producing roles until he eventually became the Executive Vice President of television production for the company.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet for a new interview, Todd Grisham said that Kevin Dunn suggested for him to start smoking cigarettes to lower his high-pitched voice for commentary.

“This is a funny story. Kevin Dunn said, ‘Listen, you’re really good, but your voice is too high-pitched. You got to get it lower.’ And I go, ‘Well, what do I do?’ He goes, ‘Maybe you should start smoking cigarettes.’ I said, really? And everyone laughed. And he’s like, ‘I’m serious, you should start smoking cigarettes.’ Because JR was chain-smoking all day long. And I was like, should I start smoking cigarettes? But thank God I didn’t do it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Todd Grisham reiterated that he was not at fault for Christian’s return commentary. Check out his full comments here.
