‘The Smashing Machine’ Brings In $6 Million For Opening Weekend, Taylor Swift Tops Box Office
“The Smashing Machine” scored $6 million for its opening weekend. It’s the lowest box office opening ever for a film led by The Rock.
His previous low was 2010’s “Faster,” which opened at $8,523,153.
The numbers are just for the domestic opening, and do not include international.
The weekend at the box office was topped by “Taylor Swift…Showgirl,” which scored $33 million over the course of the three days.
The film has a 78% Rotten Tomatoes critic-aggregated score. The film cost $50 million to produce.
“The Smashing Machine” is based on the life and MMA career of Mark Kerr, who is played by The Rock (Dwayne Johnson).
