The Godfather Says He Was Supposed To Be In Virgil’s Spot In The NWO

The Godfather portrayed many characters during his time in WWE, but the thing that stayed consistent with him was that he was always in WWE.
Speaking to SoCal Val on the Velvet Rope, Godfather revealed that he was close to jumping ship to WCW, and there was a role waiting for him.
“The only time that I was going to [leave]… I was supposed to join the nWo. I was resigning as The Godfather… we worked out a three-year deal. I’m waiting for the contract to come… They’re not calling me back. Then I look up and I see Virgil. Well, I was supposed to be a bodyguard for the first year… and so they decided to go with Virgil instead of me. My price was way higher than Virgil’s. I think they just didn’t want to pay me that much money… but Virgil took it,” he said.
Virgil joined WCW in 1996 under the name Vincent alongside Ted DiBiase. He was dubbed “Head of Security” for the NWO.
Godfather returned to WWE in 1997, forming the Nation of Domination alongside Faarooq.
