The Blade Says He’s Getting Close To Being Cleared From Back Injury, Thanks AEW For Taking Care Of Him

The Blade has been sidelined since September 2024 after undergoing back surgery.
Appearing on Talk N Shop, he gave an update on how he’s doing.
“I had a back fusion, spinal fusion on September 10, 2024. It’s been about a year now. I’m getting close to going back to doctors and getting cleared,” he said.
Asked what happened, Blade replied, “Years of bumping, but in 2022, me and Butcher had a killer match with the Bucks. I’m in my 40s and I was thinking that I was Jeff Hardy. I love the Hardyz and Dudleyz table match from Royal Rumble 2000. Jeff takes this awesome bump where he does a frontflip over the top, table is against the guardrail, D-Von moves. I went to do the exact same thing. I remember when I slid in the ring, I hit the ropes, and my legs weren’t there. I jumped, miss the table, flopped on the floor. The right side of my back went completely numb. The past year or two was getting to the point where it was uncomfortable. With back stuff, surgery is the last option. So I went to physical therapy. They did a round of shots. They did a whole bunch of different stuff.”
Blade clarified it was his lower back that got fusion.
He closed by saying, “I’ve been wrestling 25 years. I’ve had a bad back for a long time. AEW took care of my surgery. They took care of my physical therapy. They’ve been taking care of me for over a year now and I’m really grateful for that.”
Fightful wishes the Blade the best as he continues to recover.
