Ted DiBiase Reveals Why He Created The Million Dollar Dream Finisher
Ted DiBiase explains how he came up with the Million Dollar Dream.
“The Million Dollar Man,” Ted DiBiase, became famous for his time in WWE, where he would put opponents to sleep with the Million Dollar Dream and then stuff dollar bills in their mouths. In addition to that Cobra Clutch-type sleeper hold, DiBiase also utilized a Powerslam as a signature maneuver.
Speaking on the latest episode of his Everybody’s Got A Pod podcast, DiBiase explained that he needed the Million Dollar Dream to have a finishing maneuver that he could utilize against any opponent of any size.
“Again, I had to do something that I could do to anybody. The Powerslam was great, but I’m not going to get Earthquake or Yokozuna up with the Powerslam. So, I had to come up with something that I could do to anybody. That was the Million Dollar Dream, which is just a version of a Sleeper Hold.”
Submission wrestlers adopting other finishers to accommodate different opponents at the top of the card has been a trend in WWE that has continued even today. Becky Lynch just adopted a new pinning combination. Learn more about that here.
