Swerve Strickland Says MJF, Will Ospreay, Hangman Page, And Himself Are The Definition Of This Era Of AEW

Swerve Strickland names who he believes represent AEW at the top.

The “Four Pillars” term is long gone in AEW, but any promotion has its established talent who are viewed as “the guys” who can be counted on in the company.

Speaking to Cam Hawkins of Yahoo’s Uncrowned, Swerve gave four names, not necessarily pillars, who he believes define this era of AEW.

“(Will) Ospreay, Hangman (Page), myself, MJF included. We are the definitions of this era and generation. We take pride in that work,” he said.

While those four are staples of the current landscape of AEW, he does see big things on the horizon for others in the promotion.

“One, Bandido, Ring of Honor World Champion,” he said. “Two, Kyle Fletcher, TNT champ. And three, shout out to [Konosuke] Takeshita for winning the G1 climax right now. These are all the guys that are in the spots right now, already being prepared for that for the next 10 years, 15 possibly. These are the guys. And once again, all cross-cultural, which is the beauty of it. Haven’t even reached their prime years yet, but all cross-cultural crossovers, all marketable, all look like supreme athletes.”

Swerve is set to challenge Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
