Sting Says He Wanted To Retire As Old Man Sting, Shoots Down The Idea Of One More Match

Sting had his retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024, teaming with Darby Allin to defeat The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson).

Since his retirement, he has let his beard grow and stopped dying his hair, turning into the “old man” version of his character.

Speaking on the Major Figure podcast with Matt Cardona, Brian Myers, and Smart Mark Sterling, Sting said he originally wanted to retire as Old Man Sting.

“I actually wanted to retire as Old Man Sting.

“I’ve got enough fans going, ‘One more. Just one more.’ Right, one more match. I’m 66 now, enough is enough.”

“The Icon” is in his final year of doing conventions in his full gear.

He competed in AEW from 2021 to 2024, teaming with Allin his every match. He went 28-0 in his AEW run, winning and defending the AEW Tag Team Titles before the belts were vacated after his retirement.

Though he retired, he did return at AEW All In 2024 to help Darby Allin after he was put in a coffin by Jack Perry.

Sting filed a trademark on “Old Man Sting” in January.
