Stephanie McMahon: Vince McMahon’s Biggest Nemesis Is Probably Himself

As Stephanie McMahon and WWE President Nick Khan were chatting on the newest episode of McMahon’s ‘What’s Your Story?’ podcast, they began speaking about former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Stephanie brought up her father’s upbringing. Khan mentioned that family is complicated and referred to Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s comments about Vince during his Hall of Fame speech.

Stephanie added that they were not going any deeper on Vince as a subject, but said he is probably his own biggest nemesis.

McMahon: “My dad tells the story that he was oftentimes beaten by various boyfriends, etcetera, that were with his mom. He grew up in a trailer in a trailer park and he would always stand up for his mom and he would take these beatings and one time, he tells the story that he was beaten with a lead pipe and left in a ditch to die. But his mindset was, if he could survive, he won. So just surviving was winning and still is winning for him today and I don’t know how you can ever beat someone at the end of the day if all they need to do is survive when –”

Khan: “The first time I ever read that, he had done an interview in the late 90s with a publication that had great interviews.”

McMahon: “Playboy.”

Khan: “He talked about that, he talked about abuse he had suffered at the hands of one of his parents –”

McMahon: “Of his mother. Yeah.”

Khan: “To recover, to move on, to go from trailer park to, you know, all of the success, there’s not many people (who) can say that… So, all credit to him. I only have admiration for him and as Paul (Levesque) said, Triple H said in his Hall of Fame speech, family’s complicated and obviously, we don’t need to get into any of that.”

McMahon: “Yeah, we’re not gonna go any deeper on that but –”

Khan: “But in terms of business, that guy’s an empire builder.”

McMahon: “Absolutely, he is and no one can take that away from him. No matter what. Including himself… who is probably his biggest nemesis is himself.”

Khan: “I thought we weren’t getting into that?”

McMahon: “We’re not (she laughed).”

Vince McMahon and WWE are facing a sex trafficking lawsuit from former WWE employee Janel Grant. Grant agreed to drop former company executive John Laurinaitis from the suit as he agreed to provide evidence for her case.
