Sheamus Reveals GUNTHER Was Originally Supposed To Face Shinsuke Nakamura At WWE Clash At The Castle 2022

Sheamus shares the original plan for Clash at the Castle 2022.

A match that Sheamus looks back fondly on is when he challenged GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE Clash at the Castle in 2022.

While being interviewed by Robert Jackman of Uncrowned, Sheamus referred to it as one of the best matches of his career. Despite losing the bout, Sheamus received a standing ovation from the crowd in Cardiff, Wales.

Sheamus shared that originally, he was not supposed to be GUNTHER’s challenger, and that spot was initially planned to be Shinsuke Nakamura’s.

“The original plan was actually meant to be GUNTHER defending his title against Shinsuke Nakamura.”

Sheamus is still looking to become Intercontinental Champion, as it is the only men’s main roster title that he has not held in the company. Coming up at Clash in Paris on 8/31, Sheamus is facing Rusev in a Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook match.
