Shawn Michaels Says WrestleMania 10 Ladder Match Made Him Believe He Could Be A WWE Main Eventer

Shawn Michaels reflects on the Ladder Match at WrestleMania 10 as the moment when he realized he could be a main event player in WWE.

Shawn Michaels is remembered as one of the top performers of his generation. He was also known for a time as “Mr. WrestleMania.” Undoubtedly, that level of confidence in his abilities and the expectation that he would deliver on the grand stage was solidified at WrestleMania 10 when he faced Razor Ramon in a Ladder Match at Madison Square Garden.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Michaels revealed that it was that match that made him begin to realize he could be a top star as well.

“That’s something that, again, you’ll regurgitate out of your mouth. But it wasn’t for me until, I think, 1995 that I felt like I had a real chance to be a main event type of individual. It wasn’t until 1995 that and I guess that was at a decade in… Honestly, that was the first time. That was the first time that I really felt like I can do this stuff, and there’s a landscape now in the WWE that I can see the possibility of that happening.”

Shawn Michaels is now in charge of helping to create the next generation of wrestlers at WWE NXT. Elsewhere in the interview, he talked about what he looks for in modern wrestlers. Read more here.
