Seth Rollins Says He Didn’t Know He Was Facing Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 38 Until The Middle Of March

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 as the mystery opponent for Seth Rollins.

Rollins spent months wondering what was in store for him at WrestleMania after he failed to defeat Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title at WWE Royal Rumble and couldn’t win the WWE Title at WWE Elimination Chamber.

Speaking to Julian Edelman on Games with Names, Rollins looked back on when he learned he would be facing Cody Rhodes.

“There were conversations about matches. I didn’t know about Cody for sure until the middle of March. For sure. WrestleMania is in April, so we had maybe a month of lead time knowing Cody was coming. Even two weeks before I was like, ‘Do we have his signature on a piece of paper?’ It was very top secret and there were very few people who knew what was going on,” said Rollins.

The WrestleMania 38 bout kicked off a trilogy between Rollins and Rhodes over the next few months that culminated inside Hell in a Cell.

Elsewhere during the interview, Rollins reflected on losing the Hell in a Cell match to Rhodes. You can find his full comments here.
