Ryoko Sakimura Opens Up About Her Decision To Depart Marigold

Sakimura opens up about the departure.

There was a sudden announcement from Dream Star Fighting Marigold on July 31st, which noted that Ryoko Sakimura would be leaving the promotion, effective immediately. On behalf of Sakimura, the agency that represents her, sent Marigold the request to be let go.

For the first time since her departure, Sakimura opened up about her choice in her newest column for CYZO ONLINE.

She’d been documenting her wrestling journey through the columns. She said she gained a lot of experience and learned a lot at Marigold. Sakimura admitted that she struggled with the duality of wrestling being a combat sport and entertainment. She noted that she could not keep up emotionally.

She was fully involved with the entertainment and performance aspect, but the seriousness of the combat was giving her trouble. She feels that if she had been more relaxed, things might have gone better, but her personality was in the way.

Sakimura left Marigold because she wants to approach wrestling more freely and in a more challenging way. She watched wrestling from other organizations to experience what she couldn’t by just being at Marigold.

She closed by noting that she’ll do her best to get better and hopes to return to Marigold.

Sakimura last wrestled on June 17th. She’s had a total of 44 matches since beginning her in-ring career in 2024.
