At WWE Clash In Paris on August 31st, Rusev and Sheamus would battle in a Donnybrook match. In the leadup to the bout, Rusev noted his belief that no other match on the card would be as painful as his bout with Sheamus, and the match lived up to that. At the end of their bout, the Bulgarian would force Sheamus to tap out, a rare sight in Sheamus’ career.
While speaking on the WWE Clash In Paris recap, Rusev spoke of his pride about winning the match via Sheamus tapping out, as he didn’t in a previous encounter back in 2014.
“I’m very proud that he tapped out, because when I beat him before for the US title back in 2014, I believe, he didn’t tap out. He passed out. Then he went out there on X or Twitter, whatever you want to call it, and said, ‘hashtag never tapped out.’ Well, maybe we should go back in time and change that now, Sheamus. I’ve never been to a match like this. This is the most brutal match I’ve ever been to. My body is hurting. My mind is hurting. Everything hurts from top to bottom. But I am victorious, and I’m thankful to God for that.”
Rusev showed the entire world what he is capable of at WWE Clash in Paris. 😤
