Ron Funches Sings A Pro-Trans And Pro-Immigrant Version Of ‘Real American’ During Funchadelic Show
Ron Funches recently put his own spin on “Real American” by Rick Derringer, the legendary theme song of Hulk Hogan. In memory of Hogan, who passed away on July 24, he shared his improvised rendition on Instagram.
The performance comes from his Funchadelic show at the Improv Lab in Hollywood on July 20. His caption states that he’s pretty sure Hulk Hogan would not have been fond of his rendition, and that’s because it is a pro-trans and pro-immigrant take on the classic song.
Here are the lyrics:
If you see an ICE van with the flashing lights
You gotta stand up, it don’t help to hide
‘Cause if you hurt my friends, then you hurt my pride
I gotta be a man, I can’t let it slide
‘Cause you are a real American
Even if you’re trans or Mexican
You are a real American
Doing what’s right
Fight for your life

The reason Ron Funches assumes Hulk Hogan would not have liked his song is that Hulk Hogan came out in support of Donald Trump at the 2024 Republican National Convention. During his speech, he expressed support for Trump’s views on immigration.
Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71 following a cardiac arrest. Fans can read tributes to “The Hulkster” from many top names in the world of wrestling here.
