Rob Gronkowski Didn’t Know What A Slammy Award Was, Or That He Won One In 2020, Until 2025
Rob Gronkowski won the 2020 Slammy for Celebrity of the Year.
He didn’t know this until 2025.
Speaking to Stephanie McMahon on What’s Your Story, Gronkowski and Stephanie had the following exchange where Rob learned of his Slammy victory.
Stephanie: We have something in common. We’re both Slammy award winners. I don’t even know if you know that you’re a Slammy award winner. During COVID, you won Celebrity of the Year. I, myself, won a Slammy, which is a big deal in our business, for WWE. I was best heel moment and it was for slapping the crap out of Big Show.
Gronk: What’s a Slammy Award?
Stephanie: It’s like the Oscars and Grammys for WWE.
Gronk: They should’ve given me the Slammy Award before I came on the podcast. This isn’t good that I didn’t know it, but it might bring more awareness now. Slammy Awards.
Stephanie: The Slammy Awards are a big deal.
Gronk: It’s just a WWE award? Is it in LA?
Stephanie: It’s been in many different places.
Gronk: I remember. I couldn’t go. I was in Canada that day so I couldn’t make it. I remember. I do.
Elsewhere during the interview, Gronkowski reflected on his WrestleMania 33 spot and Lisa the security guard. You can find his full comments here.
