Ridge Holland Expresses Regret Over Tweet That Made WWE Situation Worse, Says WWE Informed Him His Contract Wouldn’t Be Renewed After His Injury
On October 13, Ridge Holland announced that his WWE contract would not be renewed when it expired on November 14. Holland suffered an injury against Moose at a TNA iMPACT! taping in September.
Fightful Select confirmed with WWE that they terminated Ridge Holland’s (Luke Menzies) contract early after his recent tweets about the company’s decision to not renew his contract.
On his YouTube channel, Ridge detailed his current situation.
Speaking about his injury, Ridge said, “I was going for a pop-up powerbomb on Moose. He jumped, because he’s so athletic, he jumped so high, I thought I was going to lose him. I stepped forward, he came down, I stepped back, the foot twisted, and that was the injury. I had surgery. I recovered for a week. First day, that’s when I got the call with them saying they weren’t going to renew my contract. Okay, I’m injured, and I don’t know how I’m going to make a living.”
Ridge noted that his financial situation, and those commenting on it, was nobody’s business and he wasn’t going to give any of his financial details.
“What I do want to hold my hands up for is that last tweet that forced the situation to get worse. That was purely out of frustration. I’m mad at myself for doing that because it was out of character for me. I don’t react that way, but knowing my career with WWE was coming to an end, and I never got to show my true potential, whether that’s my fault or situational with injuries or things that happened, I felt a little wronged. I don’t know who by, but by the whole situation. I hold my hands up and if I had the time (machine), I wouldn’t have posted that tweet. I needed an outlet and I needed to vent,” he said.
