Ric Flair Discusses Goldberg’s Retirement Match: “Bill’s Got Enough Money, I Don’t Think He Needed To Do That”

Flair weighs in on Goldberg’s retirement match.
WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event special on July 12th emanated from Atlanta, Georgia. Being billed as the main event of the night was Goldberg’s retirement match, as he challenged GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Goldberg was choked out by ‘The Ring General’ in what was the second-longest match of Goldberg’s career. One of the names to weigh in on the retirement bout was Ric Flair, and he did so while on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“I did (watch Goldberg’s retirement match).” Flair was asked if he liked it, “No, not really… Bill’s got enough money. I don’t think he needed to do that. There’s nothing wrong with it. I hold Bill in a high esteem because you have no idea how much he’s been ridiculed just from jealousy, you know what I mean? And I’m glad he had it. I know he wanted his son to see it. The son’s playing football in Colorado and all that. I just hate to see anybody — when you can’t give your best, you know what I mean? I was lucky with Shawn (Michaels).”
Goldberg has made the media rounds in the time since his retirement match, and his latest revelation is that he suffered a broken hand during the bout.
