REPORT: Paramount Skydance Is Preparing Bid For Warner Bros. Discovery

A bid is going to be placed for Warner Bros. Discovery.

There’s a story up via the Wall Street Journal which notes that Paramount Skydance is preparing a majority cash bid for Warner Bros. Discovery.

The bid is backed by the Ellison family, who own Oracle Corporation. After the news was announced, Warner Bros. shares went up nearly 30 percent, and Paramount shares went up seven percent.

Paramount Skydance’s bid is for the entire company, including the cable and movie studio. This comes just weeks after Skydance purchased Paramount Global for $8.4 billion. The Wall Street Journal reached out to both parties, but a response was not immediately provided.

A Reuters article notes that analysts shared that any acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery would require significant private financing. The site added that a merger may face antitrust scrutiny.

Larry Ellison of the Ellison family is number two on the global billionaire list.

All Elite Wrestling is under the Warner Bros. Discovery banner. Over the summer, Warner Bros. announced that in 2026, the company would be splitting into two. It’ll be divided into Global Networks and Streaming & Studios. AEW President Tony Khan weighed in on the split.
