Oba Femi Confirms That His Character Is Inspired By Thanos In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Oba Femi is inevitable.
Throughout his dominant run in NXT, ‘The Ruler’ has often quoted or mimicked Thanos — the popular Marvel villian that was the biggest threat to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Speaking with Fox 54 News for a new interviews, Femi said that his father and his friends inspired the Nigerian aspect of his character.
“Let’s look at what the Oba Femi character is. Oba Femi, a good guy or bad guy, functions as an obstacle. Even when I’m being cheered by the crowd, I’m still functionally am a heel. When it comes to the Nigerian aspect of the character, I think I don’t have to go too far to pull inspiration — I had my father, I had a couple of friends who were pretty big Nigerian characters and embodied everything about the Nigerian culture and how they spoke and stuff like that.”
Femi also went on to confirm that Thanos is the biggest inspiration to his character overall.
“The biggest inspiration I had was of course Thanos from Infinity War because he was just such a memorable character with so many quotable lines.”
In a separate interview, Oba Femi recently talked about retiring John Cena and Randy Orton. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
