Oba Femi: People Who Compare Me To Brock Lesnar Are Only Looking At The Superficial Stuff
Oba Femi has taken the NXT universe by storm, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament, NXT North American Championship and NXT Championship since his NXT TV debut in April 2023.
Femi’s quick rise has drawn comparisons to Brock Lesnar and his rookie year in WWE.
Speaking to Booker T and Brad Gilmore on Hall of Fame, Oba was asked about the comparison.
“I’ve definitely taken some inspiration from him in the way I work, but I don’t think it’s a one-to-one correlation between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi. The athleticism and strength are there, but I think Oba is a beast of his own. Personally, I don’t think anyone moves like Oba, talks like Oba, walks like Oba. Oba is a unique experience and people who draw the most correlation between Lesnar and Femi are people who haven’t really seen a lot of Femi. They just look at the superficial stuff like the build and speed. Those are just the exterior. When you know the character of the ruler, the destroyer, the bringer of war, you understand that is a unique experience that the WWE universe has never seen before. Oba is a one-of-one. I want to make that clear,” stated Oba.
Lesnar has not been on WWE TV since WWE SummerSlam 2023. He was implicated, and later named, in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE that was filed in January 2024.
Oba is set to defend his NXT Championship against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura on Tuesday’s WWE NXT.
