Since leaving WWE in November 2024 following her release from the company, Newell has faced several challenges, none more so than the perception amongst some fans that she is ‘injury prone’. Nixon has emphatically fought against this perception.
While speaking on a recent episode of Muscle Memory, Nixon spoke about being labeled as ‘injury prone’ by some people, noting how while it was originally hard on her, she grew to realize her critics couldn’t lace her boots.
“I mean, originally, when I first started, it was real hard on me. Took it real hard. Terrible mental space. But now, as I’ve got older, I’m like, they couldn’t do what I do. They couldn’t even lace up my boots. So why am I letting these people that do nothing but sit in their basement, licking Cheeto dust off their fingers, tell me what I can and can’t do? Like, absolutely not. I’m not going to let their opinion affect me. But it does definitely… carry into like promotion sometimes. Like people are worried about my knees, but it’s because of this online flack that I get when in reality, my knees are better than ever. Like there’s not a problem with them at all. So it’s just- it’s hard to shake when something is so said repeatedly online, but they always trust that instead of the source. But that’s why my entire problem was like, alright, you guys want to believe that. Let me show you and prove to you that that’s completely inaccurate. Like I’m ready. I’ve been ready. I’m ready to go. Just give me the opportunity to show you that you need me more than anything. You need me.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Newell spoke about her experience working WWE Main Event. You can read more about that here.
