Nigel McGuinness: AEW & I ‘Re-Upped’ On Contract When It Became Clear That I Was Gonna Be Wrestling Again

McGuinness was asked about his contract status.

Nigel McGuinness is a part of the AEW Collision commentary team, and he’ll sporadically step back into the ring. He last wrestled at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where he challenged Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

McGuinness was the focus of an interview conducted by The Magic Of Wrestling. He was asked if he had two separate contracts for being a talent and a commentator. McGuinness said he’s on one deal, but he did re-up with AEW when it became clear that he was going to be getting back in the ring.

“Yeah, my manager and agent sort of handle all that side of things. I just sign along the dotted line. I know we did — we sort of re-upped when it became clear that I was gonna be getting in the ring again, just sort of like an amendment to it. It’s ostensibly the same contract I believe.”

McGuinness is going to be on the call for the taped AEW Collision episode from San Antonio, Texas, which will air on 10/25. Spoilers for that show can be viewed here.
