Nick Jackson Confirms Young Bucks vs. Golden Lovers Match Was Supposed To Happen In AEW Before Kota Ibushi’s Broken Femur Injury

The match was on the books before Ibushi’s injury.

A new episode of Being The Elite was released, and it featured The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) doing a mailbag session.

Nick Jackson revealed that there was a plan in place to do The Young Bucks versus The Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi) in AEW. The match was taken off the table when Ibushi broke his femur in October 2025.

“A proposed match that never happened? The Golden Lovers… It was actually supposed to happen pretty recently but, he had a really bad leg break. We were supposed to do Kenny (Omega) and (Kota) Ibushi at… when was it? Not Revolution. Where the heck was it? It was a couple months ago… We end up doing a six-man tag.”

The only time that the two teams have clashed in a traditional tag match was in 2018 at NJPW Strong Style Evolved. They main-evented the show, and the Golden Lovers came out on top.
