MVP: I’m Not A Fan Of Intergender Wrestling, It’s Not Believable

MVP gives his take on intergender wrestling.
The topic of intergender wrestling has been a divise one for years now, as wrestlers will often advocate for or reject the idea when it comes up on social media. Major promotions have stayed away from intergender wrestling despite it being embraced on the independent scene.
Speaking with the Marking Out podcast for a new interview, MVP spoke about his distain for intergender wrestling.
“Imma piss a lot of you people off right now and that’s okay. I am not a fan of intergender wrestling. I don’t like it, I’m not a fan of it. Again, this is what I was talking about before, the video game culture — who are now in wrestling — grew up playing Chun Lee and kicking the shit out of people. I approach wrestling from the simulated combat mindset. I’ve always liked the shoot style, I like the realness. That’s why I fell in love with Japanese wrestling. As soon as you do intergender shit, now it’s unbelievable. You don’t have intergender boxing. You don’t have intergender MMA because biology matters. I once asked my ex-girlfriend, who was a professional fighter, I was talking to her about intergender wrestling and I said, okay, all things level. A male fighter, your height and your weight with a comparable skill set to you. You guys fight, real boxing match, what happens? She said, ‘I get killed.’ She didn’t even wait. She just said, ‘I get killed.’ It’s biology.”
After talking about ranked combat sports, MVP talked about the one time that he took part in an intergender.
“When I was on the indies many many years ago, I did one intergender match and that shit was stupid. I wish I hadn’t done it, but I was talked into it and I was younger. I’m not a fan of it, I don’t like it. There are people that do like it and there are people that have a lot of fun doing it and they enjoy it. Like I say, if people want to see it and they’re buying a ticket to see it, then I’m not going to say you’re doing it wrong because if you’re selling tickets and you’re covering your cost and you’re feeding a fan base, then by all means. But, I’m not a fan of it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, MVP talked about turning down unrealistic moves on Bobby Lashley’s behalf. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
