MJF reflects on the worst injury he’s ever sustained inside the ring while wrestling.
Over the years since debuting in AEW, Max has struggled with several injuries that would end up taking him out of action after AEW Worlds End in 2023, requiring surgery for a torn labrum.
While speaking to Ross Tucker in a new interview, MJF was asked what the worst injury he’s ever sustained wrestling is, with Max referring to tearing his labrum in 2023.
“The worst injury I’ve ever sustained wrestling? My shoulder came completely out of socket about six minutes into a 35-minute long main event match, and there was 18,000 people there. So I kind of had no choice but to suck it up. Because A, I was defending the world title. I had no intention of losing it. People pay their hard-earned money to see MJF go the distance. So that’s precisely what I did.”
MJF was then asked what came after, withe AEW World Champion keeping it simple in response.
“Pain. A whole lot of pain, yeah.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, MJF spoke about how he thought he had a ‘shot at going pro’ in football before turning to wrestling. You can read more about that here.
