Mike Santana Grateful For AEW Experience: I Learned So Much

Mike Santana talks about his time in AEW.

Mike Santana was one of the original names signed to AEW. He and Ortiz made their debut at AEW All Out 2019, only the second pay-per-view in the company’s history. He did request to leave the company, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t grateful for his time there.

Speaking to Sean Ross Sapp in an interview recorded ahead of TNA Slammiversary, Santana expressed gratitude for his time in All Elite Wrestling. He reflected positively on experiences such as headlining the first episode of AEW Dynamite, saying that he learned a great deal from his time there.

“I was super thankful for it, because I was asked before, ‘Do you feel like you wasted your time?’ Not at all, man, because I looked at that as a learning experience. A waste of time would be if I didn’t take anything from it. I took so much from it. I got to learn from so many people. I got to work with so many people. I don’t really look down much on my time there. Of course, there was good days, there was bad days. But overall, I learned, and that knowledge is what I’ve been able to use also to get me to where I’m at. Everything paid off in the long run. At the end of the day, when it comes to the very first show and the very first main event, my name will always be there. I’m happy.”

One of the things that he says he learned in AEW came from Cody Rhodes. Santana says Cody Rhodes taught him to maximize his minutes on camera. Learn more about that here.
