Maven: Nobody Trusted Triple H Except Shawn Michaels
Maven remarks on fellow WWE Superstars not fully trusting Triple H during his era.
Today, it is imperative that Triple H have the trust of the WWE roster. As he’s currently the man booking the show, he needs to build relationships with his talent, regardless of their positioning on the card. However, it wasn’t always like that. During the WWE’s Ruthless Aggression era, Triple H developed a reputation for holding down talents.
One of the stars of that era was WWE Tough Enough Champion Maven. Maven would have a brief stint at the top of the WWE card and worked directly with Triple H on numerous occasions. In a recent YouTube video, he reviews the first season of WWE Unreal on Netflix. During the video, he comments on Triple H, saying that issues between himself and CM Punk from the 2010s stemmed from a lack of trust.
According to Maven, not too many people trusted Triple H outside of Shawn Michaels during their era.
“No one trusted you, Hunter. Not a damn — Shawn trusted you, right? There’s your list,” he said. “You’re in a WWE locker room, and when you’re walking down from catering, and you see Hunter and Vince and Shawn. You see all these guys that you watched on TV, and you see all these guys that you’ve idolized for years, and all of a sudden, you’re not only in the same locker room as them, but hell, I’m on the show with them tonight. ‘Well, I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes. I’m going to be the good little subordinate wrestler and do what I’m told. Hopefully, if I cross my fingers and I do what’s right, then my time will come.’ That’s how 99.9% of the locker room views it. Punk said that was bullshit, and I’m gonna be as much of a star as you are without your effing help. By God, he went out and did it.”
