Matt Hardy Doesn’t Rule Out More Matches With Edge & Christian

Matt Hardy comments on the possibility of more matches between The Hardy Boyz and the former Edge & Christian duo of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage will forever be synonymous with one another. The four men made history with their tag team matches against one another. The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian competed in the first WWE Tag Team Ladder Match at WWE No Mercy 1999. Whether or not their future matches included The Dudley Boyz, tables, chairs, or steel cages, a bond was created between the two teams that remains linked today.

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy are the current TNA World Tag Team Champions, and they are slated for one final match against Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley at TNA Bound For Glory 2025. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are over in AEW reforming their team and getting ready to take on FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler at AEW All Out.

With all four men still active competitors and the reformation of the Cope & Cage tag team, Matt Hardy is now commenting on the possibility of future matches between them. He stated on the most recent episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast that he would be open to more matches with the Canadian tandem. However, unlike the one-off match with The Dudley Boyz at TNA Bound For Glory, Hardy would like to see a series of matches with Copeland and Cage.

“I am not opposed to it. I don’t know if I would even want to brand it as that [a final match], because we might fuck ourselves, because I think there are opportunities for matches between The Hardys vs. Edge and Christian,” he said.

“The Hardys versus Team 3D, versus the Dudleyz. It is going to be the last match ever, for sure, and we know that, and we feel very comfortable and confident putting this label on the match because it is going to stand. With Edge and Christian, I wouldn’t want to say last match yet for us. I think there is a great potential to do something and have a series of matches with Edge and Christian that could be money makers.”

When asked if those matches would take place in AEW, Hardy responded with a “maybe,” noting that he and Jeff Hardy like where they are right now.

“Maybe, it kind of all depends. We really like where we’re at now. If we did this thing with TNA for a while, like we love being with TNA is taking such great care of us. We get to do whatever the fuck we want outside of TNA, as long as we are loyal to their bookings and commit. So we’re doing real well from a monetary standpoint, you know, with all our appearances and our cons. There’s so much work. I mean, we have to say no to so much because we are offered so much, but it’s a great deal. If we can do that, and like, dip our toes into WWE, do a little bit with WWE, that all tracks and all works good, and we’re very happy with that. As far as doing something in AEW with them, I would never say never.”

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy were both in AEW. Matt Hardy was there by himself at first before Jeff Hardy debuted in 2022. They left AEW for TNA in 2024.

Matt Hardy has openly said they want to retire under the WWE umbrella, however. Read more here.
