Matt Cardona Confirms He Won’t Make Previously Booked Indie Dates, Says Promoters Understand

During his nearly six years away from WWE, Matt Cardona was one of, if not the, busiest independent wrestler on the scene.

Cardona would appear at multiple independent events each weekend, and rarely take a weekend off.

Since he returned to WWE to start 2026, Cardona has pulled out of previously scheduled dates, and vacated his championships.

“There have been a couple of haters online, I totally understand that. I was booked until the summer. If I took every indie date that I agreed to, I wouldn’t be able to be at WWE. It’s as simple as that. It’s not like I had one or two, I’m literally booked every weekend until the summer. It doesn’t make any sense. Any promoter who gave me a deposit, they’ve already been taken care of. Everybody understood,” Cardona told Sam Roberts on NotSam Wrestling.

Elsewhere during the interview, Cardona confirmed that his figure line and podcast will continue. You can find his full comments by clicking here.

On his own podcast, Cardona detailed how his return came together. You can read his comments here.
