Leon Slater Says TNA Bound For Glory Bout With Je’Von Evans Was Close To Being One Of The Best X Division Title Matches & All It Needed Was A Winner

Slater says it was missing the cherry on top.

Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans clashed over the TNA X Division Championship at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view.

Their bout was extended by five minutes because they went to a 20-minute time limit draw, but a winner was not determined because NXT’s DarkState (Saquon Shugars, Dion Lennox, Cutler James & Osiris Griffin) crashed the match and took aim at both Slater and Evans.

Slater opened up about the bout and its aftermath when he appeared on the post-Bound For Glory edition of TNA iMPACT. He feels that if the match had a decisive finish, it would have locked in a spot as one of the greatest X Division Title matches of all time.

“My goal in TNA and in wrestling is to live forever, and I think me and Je’Von (Evans) were on the verge of creating something that will stand the test of time and live forever as one of the best X Division Championship matches of all time, and I truly believe that all it needed was that cherry on top to decide who was the better man and see who’s the winner, and you know, DarkState took that cherry off, they stomped it and they threw it in the mud so, we’ll get our get back. We’ll get our get back.”

Slater is scheduled to defend his TNA X Division Championship on the 10/21 WWE NXT on The CW against Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo.
