Kurt Angle: The Shield Gear I Wore At WWE TLC 2017 Was A Little Too Tight

Kurt Angle reflects on being a member of The Shield for one night only at WWE TLC 2017.

When Roman Reigns was unexpectedly pulled off the WWE TLC card in 2017, it led to the spontaneous return to the squared circle for Kurt Angle. Angle would team with Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) and Seth Rollins as a member of The Shield for one night only. The unlikely trio would end up defeating the team of The Miz, Braun Strowman, Kane, Cesaro, and Sheamus in a 5-on-3 Handicap Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.

Kurt Angle, in his first WWE match in 11 years, was decked out in Shield gear, and now he’s reflecting on the experience. In a recent WWE Retrospective video, Angle says he enjoyed the match because it allowed him to play a different character inside the ring for one night only. He also revealed that it was the first time he had worked in non-wrestling boots, which tripped him up throughout the match, and the gear he wore was a little tight for him.

“This was so much fun. Not that into using weapons, but this was a fun night for me, because this enabled me to be a different Kurt Angle. I didn’t have my wrestling singlet on. I wasn’t Kurt Angle: the wrestler. I was Kurt Angle: The Shield. It was a lot of fun to have this match,” he said.

“I never wrestled in boots before. That was tough. I was tripping over my feet. The outfit I had on was a little small for me. It was a little tight on me, but it was a lot of fun to be able to team up with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.”

Elsewhere in the video, he revealed some backstage secrets about his iconic milk truck angle from 2001. Read more here.
