Konosuke Takeshita Feels Kazuchika Okada Is The Top Japanese Wrestler Of The 2010s

Takeshita speaks about Okada.

An interview with Konosuke Takeshita was rolled out by ENCOUNT. As the discussion went on, Takeshita spoke about Kazuchika Okada. He stated that he considers Okada to be the top Japanese wrestler of the 2010s.

“I made my debut in August 2012, and in February of that year, I watched the ‘Rainmaker Shock’ from the second floor (of the venue). I think he is by far the top Japanese wrestler of the 2010s. Fighting and teaming up with him, you can’t help but feel he’s a champion who truly earned the top spot. You can see the essence of a top wrestler in everything he does before, during, and after matches. Conversely, he is a wrestler who I can use as an indicator of how much I have grown. By going toe-to-toe with Okada in the ring, you see just how far your own status has come.”

Takeshita and Okada are both signed to All Elite Wrestling and are members of The Don Callis Family. Okada is the AEW Unified Champion, and Takeshita is the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

Both Takeshita and Okada will be in marquee matches at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20. Takeshita is going to be facing IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Yuta Tsuji in a double title match. On the Okada end, he’ll be facing Hiroshi Tanahashi in Tanahashi’s final match.
