Kevin Owens apologized to Cody Rhodes after their violent ladder match at the 2025 Royal Rumble.

At the premium live event earlier this year, the two men would go to war in a rematch of their title bout at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. During the bout, Owens would hit a powerbomb to Rhodes on a ladder setup in the corner, with Cody landing on the back of his neck as a result. While Cody would finish the match and take more bumps after, Owens would still apologize to Cody after the match.

In episode 2 of WWE Unreal, Owens would apologize to Cody and explained what went wrong with the spot, making sure that Cody was ok.

“I’m so sorry about the bomb. Because I wanted the ladder to be so that you could just go straight, cause I can’t see where I put you. But you put it the other way, so I kinda had to walk with you, and I didn’t wanna put you too far, so the they looked like shit. You ate it on your neck, are you ok?”

Cody would respond, discussing the fisherman buster he took in the match.

“I bounced into the nether realm on the suplex. (Owens: The back of my head ate that) So I landed and fell forward, I went up and forward. It was crazy. I was blown away where I landed.”

After, Cody noted that he felt terrible, but was ok after the bout, stating that he had ‘no complaints’.

Elsewhere in episode 2, Jey admitted he get blown up while doing his entrance. You can read more about that here.
