Ken Shamrock comments on possibly wrestling Kurt Angle during their primes.
Over the years, there have been many pro wrestlers who started off in combat sports with the likes of Ronda Rousey and Ken Shamrock jumping from being MMA fighters to pro wrestlers with WWE. On the other hand, some amateur wrestlers have also found their way including Olympic gold medalist and WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle. Over the years, fans have considered the idea of a dream match between Shamrock and Angle.
While speaking to Rewind, Recap, Relive in a new interview, Ken was asked who has the better Ankle Lock between he and Kurt.
“Well, listen, I gotta say, Kurt Angle does a really good job at being able to do the entertainment ankle lock. But when it comes to the actual leg lock and the legitimacy of it, I don’t think you got to question that.”
On the topic of facing off with Angle in a one on one match, Shamrock believes that in his prime the pair would have gone a whole 60 minutes at top speed.
“A pro wrestling match, we’d have killed it. No doubt. He had an engine and a motor that was second to none, and I had the same thing. We would have put on a boy, especially if they’d let us go 40 minutes to an hour. Three fall. We would have been top speed for the whole 60 minutes.”
Earlier this year, Shamrock noted his relationship with Vince McMahon and how he has been ‘awesome’ to him. You can read more about that here.
