Kazuchika Okada Successfully Defends AEW Unified Title Against Swerve Strickland At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Kazuchika Okada is still champion.
One of the championship matches on the bill for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door was the AEW Unified Title bout. It featured Kazuchika Okada putting the title on the line against Swerve Strickland.
Joining Excalibur and Bryan Danielson on commentary for the bout was Jim Ross.
Throughout the bout, Strickland’s knee was giving him trouble in addition to Okada working it. Fightful Select reported that Strickland has been wrestling on a torn meniscus since 2019 and is expected to take time off following Forbidden Door.
The conclusion of the match saw Strickland go for a ‘House Call,’ but Okada ducked it and Strickland planted on his bad knee. Okada followed up with ‘The Rainmaker’ to continue his reign as AEW Unified Champion.
Post-match, Okada dragged Strickland over to the ring post, trapped his leg in between the post and ring steps, and took a chair to Strickland’s knee. Okada became the Unified Champion by defeating Kenny Omega at All In Texas.
