Kazuchika Okada Says He Wanted To Do A Proper Destino Against Hiroshi Tanahashi
Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi paid tribute to their past rivals during Tanahashi’s final match at Wrestle Kingdom 20.
Tanahashi hit a PK in honor of Katsuyori Shibata and a Kinshasa in honor of Shinsuke Nakamura. Okada hit a modified Destino to honor Tetsuya Naito.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, Okada said he was looking to do a proper Destino, but couldn’t pull it off.
“I actually wanted to do a proper (orthodox) Destino. But when I practiced, I couldn’t do it at all. Maybe it’s because I’m big, but it was hard to do… It’s such a difficult move that I wonder how Naito was able to do it. Well, the form was a little awkward, but I think I was able to do it for Naito,” he said.
Naito made a surprise appearance after the match as Tanahashi was honored for his retirement.
Elsewhere during the interview, Okada explained his goals in AEW for 2026. You can find his comments here.
