Karl Fredericks (Eddy Thorpe) Reveals NJPW Paid Him To Create Theme Songs For Wrestlers To Use On STRONG
Fredericks created theme songs for wrestlers.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, New Japan Pro-Wrestling taped matches for their ‘STRONG’ program that aired on YouTube and NJPW World.
One of the talents who was working the STRONG shows at the time was Karl Fredericks, f.k.a. Eddy Thorpe. In his first interview post-WWE, Fredericks touched on a note from his time in New Japan. He told the B4 The Bell Podcast that NJPW paid him to make songs for wrestlers on the STRONG shows.
Fredericks added that he wanted to use one of those songs when he was on NXT, but was told he couldn’t. Fredericks said he knows the laws of that area and knows he could have used the song.
“I made my own theme music for New Japan… My last little six months or so there, they were actually paying me to make theme music for STRONG. So when indie guys would come in on STRONG. I made Clark’s theme music. I had a song made that I wanted to use there (in WWE NXT), but they wouldn’t let me, and they were telling me, oh, they can’t do it but I know the law. The laws to all that… You actually can…”
In the same interview, Fredericks spoke candidly about the personas he had on NXT TV and some of the highlight moments from his run. To read his remarks, click here.
