Jordynne Grace Talks NXT Storyline With Blake Monroe: “I’ve Never Had To Publicly Address My Insecurities & This Has Been Very Therapeutic…”
Grace and Monroe are on a collision course.
Next up on the docket for the WWE NXT brand is the Heatwave Premium Live Event on August 24th in Lowell, Massachusetts.
One of the advertised bouts is a grudge match between Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe. Throughout their program, Monroe has verbally degraded Grace, and Grace has fired back. Grace spoke about the storyline during an interview with Adrian Hernandez and said some of the things Monroe has said are not false, regarding how Grace views herself when she looks in the mirror.
Grace said the storyline is very personal to her, and it’s the first time she’s had to address her insecurities in a storyline.
“It feels crazy because I never — I just never thought I’d be an inspiration to anyone. That’s never been a goal of mine. But I just always wanted to be authentic and put my story out there and honestly, posting my transformation and my story and my progress, that was more for me than for other people. But, when I started to see how it was affecting other people and getting them motivated and helping them, then I wanted to do more of it and that’s what kept me going… It just kept on rolling and getting bigger and getting bigger and this story that we’re doing at NXT right now is a very personal one, because it’s real. The stuff that Blake (Monroe) is saying about me in her promos, online, nothing that she has said is really wrong. She’s definitely right. Maybe I do look at myself in the mirror sometimes and I still see that same insecure person. But I think that the more important thing is that we can see past that now, and that instead of that scaring us, it motivates us and it motivates us into doing something better, and so… I’ve never had to publicly address my insecurities, and this has been very therapeutic to be able to do that with such a large audience.”
