John Cena jokes about how he was run out of Hollywood.
While Cena is now a popular name in Hollywood comedy movies, but for a time, he was largely confined to roles from WWE studios. Most of his movies would feature Cena in an action movie star role, something that he was not strong in despite his role as the top babyface in WWE at the time. But for Cena, he still has a sense of humor about the situation.
While speaking during a recent appearance at Fan Expo Denver, Cena was asked about when he decided he wanted to go from WWE to Hollywood.
“Really not my decision. I got run out of the movie business once for making too many bad movies and then I got another chance and I’m very grateful for that. I learned from my failures in the past that I was split two different ways. I was doing movies and I wanted to be in a wrestling ring. I was in my 20s, I was world champion and gosh, I really was just enjoying my life in WWE and I started to do movies to bring more business to WWE and that wasn’t the right path for me, and then I got a chance doing some movies as Fred’s dad. I got to live in a refrigerator, and that was the first time that Brian Robbins ever took a chance on me to laugh at myself and enjoy. After that, I realized that if i was going to commit at all to anything outside of WWE arena, I should do so with the passion I commit in that arena. So since then, every chance that somebody’s ever taken on me, I just want them to to know that they’ll get my all and it’s been worthwhile.”
Elsewhere in the same appearance, Cena talked about advice parted on him by Eddie Guerrero. You can read more about that here.
