Jim Ross: I Think Vince Was Jealous He Was Never The Play-By-Play Guy That I Was

On the latest episode of Grilling JR, the legendary voice of pro wrestling, Jim Ross, had some choice words for Vince McMahon. Having worked under McMahon for the majority of his career, Ross knew there was still some unfinished business between the two.

“I have never understood Vince’s intense animosity. I think he was jealous,” Ross said. His response came after host Conrad Thompson asked him about Todd Grisham’s comments during his interview with Chris Van Vilet.

Ross continued, “He was never the play-by-play guy that I was but he didn’t want to give me any credit for helping build the Attitude Era into what it was. I’m not the only person responsible for that, for God’s sakes. I’m not trying to say that.”

“As much grief as he gave me, I could always look at my bank account and get happy. I never had the animosity toward Vince that he had toward me and I never got it,” Ross added.

Throughout everything in the Attitude Era and the years after, Ross knew he worked his tail off but the respect was never reciprocated. He added that now that his health is better, he should be around more often on AEW programming.
