Jeremy Allen White Says The Physicality Of Pro Wrestling Came Natural To Him When Filming ‘The Iron Claw’
Jeremy Allen White briefly reflects on the physicality of professional wrestling during his time portraying Kerry Von Erich for A24’s “The Iron Claw.”
Jeremy Allen White portrayed the former WWE Intercontinental Champion, “The Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich, in the 2023 biopic of the Von Erich family. Now, he’s portraying Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming film “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.” While promoting the film, White appeared on Hot Ones.
He was asked during the interview about the different roles he’s played and what was most difficult for him to adapt to. He responded by saying the physicality of wrestling came naturally to him, before explaining some of the challenging parts about filming FX’s The Bear.
“I mean, they’re all challenging in their own right, or they all have been, but first things first, I feel so lucky. I have a job where I get to learn from these masters and learn these things. I think the physicality of wrestling, that stuff came a bit more natural to me. It was scary, but it was fun and physical. The training for the chef stuff — everything outside of kind of the knife work, there was nothing that scary. But, yeah, picking up a guitar for the first time when you’ve never held one before, and knowing in six months you have to be playing it, that was humbling and the most frightened I’ve been, yeah, in my work life.”
The upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic will premiere in theaters on October 24.
