Jake Hager Says He Was Told That John Cena Refused To Put Him Over
Jake Hager says John Cena refused to put him over.
Jake Hager comments on a rumor involving John Cena.
Hager, who while in WWE wrestled under the ring name Jack Swagger, worked for WWE between the years 2006 and 2017. During that time period, he would work with several top stars in the company, including the likes of Edge, Chris Jericho and more, holding both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and ECW World Championship during his time with the company.
While speaking on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Hager was asked about the rumor that Cena had refused to put him over.
“Oh yeah, he absolutely refused to do it.”
Jake was then asked if he was told this by Cena himself, but clarified that he was told that was what had happened.
“I was told that was what happened. Because the original plan was I was gonna beat him Monday night on Raw and not do the tease. But I’m a young guy. I’ve been there for a cup of coffee, so what are you gonna do? But I’m not the only guy he’s done that to, he did that throughout his career. I was surprised to see what happened with him and truth lately, because usually he tried to take that glory. But I feel like this time, he’s the one who said we better go with Truth and get him back here.”
