Jacy Jayne Feels She Was Not Ready For WWE Main Roster During Toxic Attraction Run: “I Probably Would Have Been Fired By Now”
Jacy Jayne admits that she got a ‘big head’ during that time.
As of this writing, Jacy Jayne is the NXT Women’s Champion. She’s in the midst of her second run with the title.
Jayne spoke about her journey through NXT while chatting with Bully Ray on Busted Open. She was asked why she thinks she has not yet received the WWE main roster call-up. Jayne admitted that during her time with Priscilla Kelly (Gigi Dolin) and Mandy Rose as Toxic Attraction, she got a ‘big head.’ Jayne believes she would have been fired by now if the call-up happened then.
“At the end of this month will be five years (that I’ve been in NXT).” Jayne was asked if she thinks it’s time for a call-up and replied, “Um, yeah. Listen, I’m ready. When they give me that call, I know I’m ready. I am not nervous, I’m not scared. I know I belong up there.” Jayne was then asked why the call-up has not happened and said, “So I think, if we rewind, once Toxic Attraction broke up, let’s say, I got a big head.” Bully Ray asked her to clarify if she’s talking about on-screen or off-screen, and Jayne said, “I mean, I guess off-screen right now. So I thought I was ready. I thought I was, ‘I’m gonna be the next one,’ the whole nine, and I was in fact not ready. I was hyping myself up a little too bit. I needed to be humbled. So, looking back now, 100 percent I was not ready and if I went up when me and Gigi (Dolin) were doing those SmackDowns for a little bit, oh, I would have failed. I probably would have been fired by now. So, I’m happy that I’ve been here this long because now I know I really am ready. Now I can say confidently, I’m ready to be put in a bigger position, I’m ready to be on Raw or SmackDown. Wherever they need me, that’s fine. I feel like I understand the business a lot more. I understand what this really is.”
Jayne has a title defense coming up against Sol Ruca on the 2/24 NXT in Atlanta, Georgia.
